BENEFITS OF SMILE MAKEOVER WITH PORCELAIN VENEERS

WHAT ARE PORCELAIN VENEERS?

Porcelain Veneer Provides Dramatic and Comprehensive Aesthetics

Porcelain veneers are a thin and durable layer of synthetic material (porcelain or composite) that are bonded to the tooth’s surface to improve a range of irregularities or aesthetic problems. A substantial aesthetic effect can be obtained with a veneer and minimal tooth preparation is required. They create an entirely new “face” for your teeth while strengthening them. They essentially resurface the front of your teeth with durable, attractive, and stain-resistant material.

HOW LONG DO PORCELAIN VENEERS LAST?

Many people think that Porcelain Veneers are fragile and do not last long. But Veneers are made of advanced and innovative ceramic materials that are even stronger than your tooth enamel. Porcelain Veneers can last very long with proper care and a good lifestyle. Porcelain Veneers are expected to last 20 years for more than 80% of cases and 10 years for more than 90% of cases.

WHO IS A CANDIATE FOR PORCELAIN VENEERS?

Most people who desire to have an attractive smile are candidates for porcelain veneers. Veneers are bonded to teeth that have been damaged and can fix the most common complaints people have about their teeth, including:

veneers have the Power to Restore & Protect

Porcelain veneers have the power to not only cover and restore a tooth in need of repair, but veneers are strong enough to protect your teeth from further harm. As delicately thin as they are, it’s truly impressive how they can withstand the test of time and last for years and years.

Porcelain veneers are also highly durable. Studies show that more than 96% of porcelain veneers are still in place after ten years, and up to 83% are still in place after 20 years.

veneers have the Power to Turn Back Time

Porcelain veneers are a thin and durable layer of synthetic material (porcelain or composite) that are bonded to the tooth’s surface to improve a range of irregularities or aesthetic problems. A substantial aesthetic effect can be obtained with a veneer and minimal tooth preparation is required. They create an entirely new “face” for your teeth while strengthening them. They essentially resurface the front of your teeth with durable, attractive, and stain-resistant material.

veneers have the Power to Straighten

If you missed your opportunity as a child to ride the brace train, it is not too late to correct and have beautifully straight teeth. With porcelain veneers, you do not have to endure months and years of metal braces. Your teeth can be shaped, evenly aligned so you can enjoy your smile with no imperfections like gaps, stains, or crooked teeth.

Veneers are one of the ways Dr. Horiyat can allow you to have the straight smile you’ve always dreamed of. Now that’s power!

That means you can drink coffee and wine or eat dark-colored foods and still maintain a flawless smile by taking care of your smile.

THE VENEER PROCESS

HOW TO CHOOSE THE PERFECT SHAPED PORCELAIN VENEERS FOR YOUR FACE

Porcelain Veneers have gained widespread popularity because of their ability to correct structural and cosmetic dental issues in a short amount of time.

Porcelain veneers can be classified into certain characteristics and the kind of smile you wish to portray. You and your cosmetic dentist will have to consider many variables: These variables include:

CHANGING YOUR FACE

Veneers to Complement Your Overall
Facial Features

You should choose veneers that will fit the overall proportions of your face. The length & width of your teeth can make a big difference: the wider teeth can benefit you if your face is thinner while longer teeth help if your face is fuller.

For example, long and square-shaped veneers will not fit the overall proportions of someone with a small face; or softer edge teeth are recommended for someone with an angular or square-shaped face.

CHOOSE VENEERS BY FACE SHAPE TO FIT ORGANICALLY

When choosing veneers, it’s important to consider the shape of your face. Your face shape is more accurately your overall head shape; it’s influenced by your neck, jaw, hairline, and ears.

Faces fall into four general categories regarding shape, and each category has an optimal tooth size and shape that help balance your features and optimize your overall appearance.

Each face shape can provide an optimal tooth size and shape to balance your features and give you the best-looking smile:

HEART-SHAPED  faces work better with rounded and shorter veneers.

OVAL-SHAPED tend to look better with square teeth, which add fullness and help widen the face.

ROUND-SHAPED faces look better with veneers that are longer and more pronounced.

SQUARE-SHAPED faces look better with rounded teeth, as rounded teeth soften the defined jaw lines and other features of the face.

VENEER COLORS

The appropriate color of your porcelain veneers is determined using a standardized color chart. This chart is divided into four categories: gray, reddish yellow, reddish brown, and reddish gray plus many sub-categories for a wide range of tones. BL1 will be considered as the super white while a BL4 will resemble four shaded darker than BL1.

VENEER MATERIALS

As the color and shape of veneers are important to provide you with a more natural look, the materials play a major factor. As for the materials, it depends on the different brands. Some of the more recognized brands used by Aria Dental patients include Da Vinci, Lumineers, Procera®, Zirconia, IPS, Empress, Feldspathic Porcelain, and IPS E.Max. Our cosmetic dentists can also work with the best local ceramist lab to fabricate your very own porcelain veneers.

VENEER PROFILES

Broadly speaking, veneer profiles have four critical aspects:

VENEER STYLES & SHAPE

Once you have decided on the color or shade of veneers including the materials to be used; you will have to focus more on the shape of the veneers since choosing the right shape for your veneers is essential to giving you the most suitable smile for your face.

Since every tooth is different, there are endless options to choose from; however, the shaping of veneers is typically focused on the six main teeth – 2 central incisors, 2 lateral incisors, and 2 canines. Each set of these can be shaped so that they appear boxy or squarish oven rounded at one or both corners of the tooth.

Smile Libraries have been created to make choosing the right shape. The Las Vegas Institute Smile Catalog is one of the most common indexes for tooth shape reference. This library is made up of 12 different styles of smiles to choose from.

Aggressive: Square shaped, uniform teeth for a bold impression. Typically more common for males.

Mature: Square shaped teeth with slightly rounded canines.

Vigorous: Square shaped teeth with sharp and prominent canines.

Dominant: Square shaped teeth with more prominent front teeth and rounded canines.

Focused: Slightly rounded teeth with square central incisors.

Enhanced: Slightly rounded teeth

Softened: Rounded teeth with a more discreet curvature.

Hollywood: Square shaped with slightly shorter lateral incisors. This is one of the most popular veneer styles and typically preferred for male patients.

Functional: Slightly rounded shape with pointed canines for optimal function

Natural: Slightly rounded shape with very pointed canines.

Youthful: Round shape with longer canines

Oval: Round shape with rounded canines and incisors.

PORCELAIN VENEERS

Porcelain veneers are composed of a durable, high-quality ceramic material that can be matched to the shade of your surrounding teeth for a natural look. This common cosmetic dentistry procedure uses veneers that can be individually customized for your teeth, achieving the best possible fit as well as a beautiful appearance. The hand-layered porcelain has a dynamic quality that catches the light just like the enamel of a natural tooth. Porcelain veneers are often considered a minimal-prep procedure, preserving the majority of your existing tooth structure while achieving long-lasting smile rejuvenation.

COMPOSITE RESIN

Composite veneers offer many of the same rejuvenation benefits as porcelain veneers, including the concealment of cracks, chips, gaps, and discoloration. These lower-cost veneers can allow you to achieve a beautiful smile that also fits comfortably within your budget; however, composite veneers may not last quite as long as traditional porcelain veneers due to the differences between the two materials. In most cases, composite veneers require either minimal tooth preparation or no tooth preparation at all, preserving your natural tooth structure while also delivering natural-looking results.

CEREC® VENEERS

The CEREC® (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) system allows your cosmetic dentist to design and create custom veneers using an in-office milling unit. As a result, you do not have to wait for your veneers to be manufactured and then shipped from a third-party lab. Using the state-of-the-art CEREC® 3D software, your cosmetic dentist can design your new smile in minutes. CEREC® veneers are a quick and convenient way for you to rejuvenate the appearance of your smile in just one office visit

ZIRCONIA VENEERS

Zirconia porcelain veneers are often ideal for patients who have teeth that are more severely damaged or decayed. These restorations can be stronger than traditional porcelain veneers and offer a compromised tooth some structural reinforcement. Dr. Horiyat commonly uses zirconia veneers for the back teeth, where the added strength of the material can prevent premature wear. In addition, due to the material’s extreme durability, zirconia can be used to create dental crowns and dental implant restorations.

LUMINEERS®

LUMINEERS BY CERINATE® are ultra-thin, handcrafted porcelain veneers, and translucent-like natural teeth that offer the painless way to transform your entire smile and give you the beautiful smile you’ve always dreamed of. Lumineers® are permanent cosmetic solutions and a more modern form of veneers for stained, chipped, discolored, or misaligned teeth that give you a custom-made smile designed with care. Lumineers® is a wonderful option for a comfortable and simple smile make-over.

BIOCLEAR VENEERS

BioClear Veneers are relatively new products that can be used as an alternative to porcelain veneers and traditional bonding. Dentists use this product to help patients with black triangles along their gum line. Some patients may feel that these small hallow shapes do not bother them, and elect to leave them alone; however, this choice can create a lot more cost in the long run because as the gum recedes, food particles get trapped in the small spaces, which will lead to a greater risk for bad breath, tooth decay, and gum disease that are much more costly to repair.

Why Choose Lumineers®?

No Grinding, No Drilling, No Shot – Simply Attach to Your Teeth.
Lumineers® are digitally designed to be ultra-thin like contact lenses so they can be applied seamlessly over your natural teeth to deliver a beautiful result with a simple and painless process. That’s why Lumineers® is the #1 patient-requested veneer system in the world. Lumineers® could even be placed over existing crowns or bridgework without having to replace them.
Traditional veneers are generally thicker by a minimum of 0.5 millimeters, and thus require more aggressive and irreversible removal of healthy tooth structure. The extensive preparation technique frequently requires shots and anesthesia to minimize sensitivity and pain. The minimally invasive Lumineers technique with a minimum of 0.3 millimeters typically eliminates the need for shots or temporaries while you wait for your custom-made Lumineers.
Unlike traditional veneers, there are no shots, no drilling of sensitive tooth structure, and no pain. They’re even reversible in some cases, so you have nothing to lose and a beautiful smile to gain. Lumineers® are proven to last for over 20 years with proper care, so your beautiful smile will be with you for years and years. What’s not to love? If you don’t like how your teeth look, then you will love Lumineers.
